The Truth about Stetsom amplifiers

Here is a pic to stare at

No probs on the Stetsom questions. I couldn't help but be curious when I saw the outside and inside pics of those amps and then I saw the power ratings and I just wrote it off as overrated but now everyone is saying they are good to go, and then I thought, well they must thermal at least, because of the size of the heatsink, but you guys are saying they don't even thermal so I really need to get one of those and check it out. I can support a 3K in my test setup at my shop. I have a competitor that I sponsor that can put the 7kd to the test in his setup, I think we can even run it at 16V to see how it does.... I am still working on the funds to build my 2kA power supply of my own, so I won't have that kind of amperage to test with until I get it done. Would be glad to talk with your guys about repairs. After all I am in the repair business, as alot of the people here in this forum are my customers.... Have repaired a lot of amps for these guys, we do commercial work too so have your guys get in touch with us, we can talk about it.

I'm not sure how much more efficient soldering is... but I'm just gunna assume it's not and that Stetsom did their homework.

I do like that mega fuse.

That's dope.

I like you didnt believe the Ratings of the Stetsom amps but Now that I have one I can believe it... I have yet to get 7000 watts from it but Im not even close to the proper electrical setup.. I just dropped mine down to .5ohms daily and have yet to get the case warm let alone hot. I did a quick test the other day and with a box rise to 1.1ohms i got 4100 watts at 53Hz and the clip light didnt even light up.. I dropped down to 12.2 Volts from 14.0 Volts. I will do more testing this weekend as a couple people told me I should be around 4500-5000 with my electrical setup.. Also I may be down for awhile as im selling my subs so I may take u up and send you my amp for testing..

Solder actually has poor electrical properties compared to say, copper... unless I am mistaken last time I checked......

Think of solder as "the glue that holds it all together".... Copper wires should make good contact with the copper in the PCB before being soldered up, as solder does not flow electrical current like copper does....

And LOL he said "that's DOPE". (about the mega fuse) haven't heard that one in a while....

He's got 2 IA 40.1's on them now, so I think if the will handle that they will handle a single Stetsom 7k. Kmanian, go buy one of those and ship it to me... LOL After my local guy gets through beating the pee-pee out of it I will make sure it isn't broke and send it back to you.... LOL sounds like a helluva deal eh?
I will work on it;)//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Just an ignorant question, but doesn't silver solder have better properties than lead?

^^^Do the Stetsom 7k's also defy the laws of current draw and somehow produce 7kw with only one sey of 0 gauge inputs? I've never understood this...
could you not use larger wire or multi. wire and reduce to 1/0 at the amp?

That is what I have done, I have 4/0 reduced to 1/0.
