Hey denim dan, what do you think my stock alternator in my 93 explorer (4.0) is? I ask because you have an explorer, right?

I thought they were 90 ampers or 100, but i upped mine to 150, definatley worth it, check out MR Alternator.com good prices but I have heard mixed opinions on them so far, but 200 for 200 for an Ex //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Impressive. How hard are they to install? I know zero info about installing engine parts. But that probably goes with the fact that I don't hit near as many deers as you do. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

How hard are they to install?

Bro they are very simple to install. It should come with instuctions how to do it. Shouldnt take YOU more then 45minutes. I have changed and added a 2nd alt to friends cars and mine. You could take it to a shop and they will probably charge you 50$ and tell you it takes an hour. It on average takes 15minutes. Just take a look at yours one day and you will notice probably 3 bolts. I dont really want to get into how you do it, because it would be rather long. So I will just give you 3 pointers.

1. there should be a bolt holding it up. If you undo that bolt it kinda drops down. That takes the pressure off the belt that turns the pulley.

2. Undo the rest of the bolts and take the belt off the pully.

3. Make sure you unhook the electric plug before you try to pull the alt out.

hahah thanks, but yeah they are not too hard to install the trick is your engine timing, because it is on the fan belt, but if your worried it is worth it to get a shop to install it for you, but the current upgrade it worth it

Like I said it should be about 50$ done in no more then an hour and a wondeful type upgrade. I would recommend this as your number 1 choice instead of a cap, battery/isolator combo...its simple if you have the right charge system the rest is a waste of time and money.

If thats the only amp...it must draw alot of freakin current. The jbl bp1200.1 is 114amper draw. I dont know though might be your best bet, because your better safe then sorry.

Either way, I'm gonna work lots of shifts this summer and I have no bills to pay, so why not get something hella nice.
