Many reasons, but for starters dont you realize a cap puts more strain on your alt? Picture this if your battery (which is hooked to your alt to keep it charged) cant keep up and your lights start to dim or whateva starts to happen....how in the hell is an addition to the strain on top of the battery gonna help?why not just get a capacitor.

I would also think you would be fine with your stock battery, but you know stock things dont last forever. Since you stated (so why not get something hella nice.) Why not get a optima, stinger, or turbo start battery?
nswartley you got that d3000m up and running yet? I still await your first hand encounters with this beast.
it all depends on the car...where you take it...etc. it usually cost $1-3 per amp. i think the max for many cars is about 130-150 amperes. you'll need a bigger (new) alt for anything larger than that...i'm pretty sure..Originally posted by loserpunk how far can you rewind a stock alt....and how much does it cost.. i've heard something like $1 per amp but i'm not sure
Ok so what if your alt is not big enough to keep your battery charged for the system your running? Then you add a cap? So now tell me how possible it is? On top of that yea your alt charges your battery when the car is on and it charges more while in motion. So you cant expect to go out there start your car jam your music and have a charged battery. you would have to let it sit for about 20-30 minutes to charge...your better off driving with no tunes for about 45minutes....just think broit cant possibly strain it that much i mean ur altenator charges ur battery ere day.
