The State of the Union Address

if we are going to discuss oil prices, think about this. We send young americans over seas every day to protect our foreign oil interests. Every day young american lives are lost to protect our foreign oil interests. Why do we not drill in anwar? Just in case we might kill some caribou in the process. Interesting priorities, right?
Now consider another situation, drill off the florida coast. We have halted any new oil rigs or drill locations off the coast of florida for environmental reasons... In case we have an oil spill that would endanger the florida coastal environment. On the surface, that seems reasonable, right? But what i bet you dont know is, the nation of cuba has leased out oil drilling rights off their coast to... China. China is currently building oil drilling platforms almost within sight of the florida coast, so they can **** up oil from under the north american continent, ship it to china for processing, and then sell it back to the u.s. Market at great profit. You tell me, will china give two shits if they spill oil off the u.s. Coast line?

Americans tend to follow paths of extremism, at the expense of common sense. Feel good measures that, in the end, cut off our own noses. This country needs a big wake up call.
amen!!!

It really depends on where the boundaries are. When you take freedoms from the people in order to give the government more power, that is communism. We have seen that consistently with the obama administration. The bailouts and stimulus are making people dependent on government to survive. How many ethnicities in this country are dependent on government? It's communism one step at a time. I don't think it's everyone else that doesn't know what they are talking about. obama may be a smart guy, but he's pushing the wrong plan. His plan can't work. If he was THAT smart he'd know that.
Sitting up boundries for jobs I think doesn't really give them power unless they actually have a stake in the business process. Equal pay for all employers, no rate hikes unless a proper reason is giving to consumers, no merging to increase competition, a max price you can charge on certain services, and etc. I'm all about fairness. I want people to be self independant, and educated. Some boundries must be sit to where a company must honor, and go by that. The government shouldn't go in no further than that in any shape or form.

Equal pay for all employers? That's communism. When everyone receives equal pay for doing different thing you ruin the economy. Why would I do my job if I got paid the same as a mcdonalds worker? I wouldn't want the extra stress managing 2 911 call centers. You flipping burgers don't deserve as much as me because you don't take your job home with you. You're not on call 24 hours a day.

How could businesses compete with no rate hikes? How can you say a business can be subject to new taxes but not be able to raise their prices to compete? You want to get rates down? Get the government out of that business.

No Merging? When businesses begin to fail, the successful ones buy up their assets. This is the definition of a merger. All the other businesses had the option to buy that failed one up too... but they didn't. That is FAIR. Your ideas are NOT FAIR. You like fairness? Why is it fair that I work my butt off and have to give a LARGE portion of my paycheck so stupid *****s can get knocked up and retire off of my dime? Why is it my fault they got pregnant? Why is that baby partially my responsibility? Why am I responsible for people who do not work? At some point people with your mentality are going to realize that they cannot keep penalizing the people that carry this economy on their backs. With the load sorely on us, everyone's future is in our hands. It might be fun for now... but it will not be.

We can argue this and that, but the system is so large and cumbersome, it takes experts just to analyze all the data properly. Its one tactic our government uses to keep their game going. Im in favor of the 'flat tax' system, but it would remove far too many layers of complication our politicians hide behind to be considered by them. Again, we will not get out of this run-around game we pay for, and lose at, unless we start looking at much more radical and basic changes in our system.

For another example, how outrageous is the recent supreme court ruling that corporations have the right to 'free speech' and thus are allowed to spend unlimited money to affect politics? In essence, the government just changed the laws to allow themselves to go on the take from big business, for far more money than any time in history. Meanwhile, we sit back and let them. Outrageous.

I think Audioholic is inciting revolution.
You fvcking A I am. Nothing else will amount to any real, substantial and beneficial change. We've given our politicians, and govt as a whole, chance after chance to redeem themselves. They never do, they simply mire us in complexity and rhetoric in order to linie their own pockets and secure their own personal futures.

I'm also in favor of the flat tax but with certain breaks for small businesses. They are the only ones that don't really get a nice benefit from a flat tax. They still need a boost.

Communism doesnt say everyone receives equal compensation, it simply says the community decides compensation. And by community, I of course mean the government. People in the former USSRdid not receive equal compensation, the government handed it out as they saw fit, as opposed to our system (supposedly) where the market determines compensation through various means.

first off think. Think real hard. There are rules that would imply to each rule I just said, and there are excuses to each one. Your confusing equal standards and guidlines to FOLLOW with USSR. Having universal standards want be acceptal. You really think I'm gonna list them all, lol @ you. Get real this is ca.com.

It doesn't say that, but if you were to do that... it would be communism. Just because that isn't how it has been practiced doesn't mean that if everyone were paid equal wages, that it would NOT be communism. Thus my point.

So because I used logic to disagree with you, you laugh at me? Gotcha.

My comment was correct. Your definition of communism as everyone receives equal compensation could be viewed as a form of communism loosely, but practical application of communism has never worked that way, nor is it reliant upon equal compensation in order to be defined as communism.

I actually posted the actual definition in an earlier post and this was not my definition of communism. I said if this were in practice it would be communism... and it would. Sorry that wasn't clear.

Your logic fails sir.

You don't understand what I'm saying. Equal pay is NOT mcD's workers and a fireman getting paid the same price. Equal pay is no one should get paid a lesser wage if the experience and education is the same and etc. This is the point I tried to make earlier. I say 'guidelines' and people go, omg, communism! It's a difference, a huge difference.
