The saddest setup I've ever seen.

i had a friend who bought a profile baja subs and amp. as for his enclosure...he put them both on 1 piece of wood that was about 4x20 inches or so. he also bought a screen off ebay and it was blurry as hell....he crashed his car though...best thing thats ever happened to his setup

just curious, what would you have done for the $200. i mean you would have let him keep the mismatched subs/amp and 200 doesn't seem to be enough to rebuild a dash on top of using REAL ampkit with dblocks and terminals.

I'm tempted to say something...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

that's not as bad as the kid i work with who hates "mid bass" therefore only runs 6 sets of tweeters with no mid woofers off DECK POWER, so he can get "really good highs, without distortion"

or the other dude i met that runs 2 12"s for lows and 2 10"s in his backseat for "midbass" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

car audio's been taking a turn for the worse (if that's possible) lately

I've seen two 10" home audio woofers used for mid-bass, it sounded great. They were their own sealed enclosure on both sides of the back seat.

You sure?

I was thinking how ironic it was for the OP to post this, where I wouldn't let him within 20 feet of trying to repair a coax cable //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

My point being, one man's "fix" is another man's ghetto //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Ok, the guy had a 98 Cavalier. He had 2 off-brand, mismatched flea market amps powering 2 pairs of mismatched flea market subs. The subs were in crappy, waterlogged, disentigrating pboard boxes. The way he hooked it up was the best. He had one run of 10 awg wire going to the back, which he put in the first amp, and shoves another 8 awg wire shoved in there, too, which he hooked into the other amp. For ground, he did the same thing, and on top of that, he had the ring terminal on the ground wire kinda layin under his back seat next to the clip that holds the seat down. Not even bolted down.
Since he didnt disassemble the dash correctly, he ended up breaking the shit out of it when he pulled the radio out. Now, he's got a "Pilot" radio just sittin there inside the double-din slot. It gets better. The clip that holds the faceplate down broke, therefore, the radio won't work unless the faceplate is pressed down. So, he uses a hair tie around the chassis of the radio to hold the faceplate down. Duct tape didnt work. The radio was hardwired in... it was a mess of e-tape, duct tape, bare wires, and butt splices. He has problems with the radio, obviously.

The best part is he came in for help because his system didn't work.... NO SHIT IT DOESN'T WORK! All we could say was.... "It would cost you $200 for us to fix... that."
pictures or shenanigens

they probably would have just made it work

I was thinking more towards the "Working at CC" comment.

I wouldnt let a CC employee touch my vehicle with a 10ft pole and a degree in electrical engineering. I'm still trying to figure out how they managed to make a cars radio work...untill you turned on your turn signal or wipers. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

There are a few exceptions.

It's a relatively minor point, but someone should learn about what affects feedline impedance before ragging on other people's installs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
