I sold my explorer yesterday, so now im on the lookout for a new vehicle. I got a budget of up to $12k, preferably more around the 10-11k range so i have some extra $$$ for aftermarket goodies.

I've got it somewhat narrowed down to what i like, but i would like to hear from people with personal experience.

-2000+ Chevy silverado/GMC sierra

-2000+ Chevy tahoe

-2002+ Chevy Trailblazer

-2002+ Ford Explorer

-2002+ Ford Explorer Sport Trac

-2002+ Dodge Ram 1500 (not sure if i like the interior)

Im not going to make an actual poll, assuming that people are going to throw in other ideas as well

Also, would it be cheaper to buy a vehicle now (like within two weeks), or late july/early august? I'll be leaving for commercial fishing in a few weeks, but i needa get a new vehicle before i leave for college (august 12th). so its either now, or early august heh.

thats what i wanted, but parents dont like the idea of me having a car payment in college. I dont know what the big deal is tho. I have enough scholarships to p ay for the next 4 and a half years of college, so i wont have anything to spend money on heh

I may be biased, but I'd say the trailblazer.. 4.2 inline-six, 291 hp and a spacious rear compartment for all kinds of goodies..

I can't believe I am saying this, but I actually agree with Eugenics on this one. Tacoma all the way. More reliable and better quality all the way around than a Chevy Trailblazer or Ford Explorer.

its pretty hard to find tacoma's around here in my price range.

i was looking at some extened cab tacoma's, and i really didnt like the interior.

GM period. I have had nothing but bad luck with all their cars. It's usually the same crap over and over. Fuel Injectors and PO300 codes. Very frustrating.
