The Official Type R Thread

Hey guys, just bought a 12" Type R dvc 2 ohm sub. In the process of looking for a box...preferably slot ported. What does everyone recommend for tuning of the box if I listen to a majority of rap? What is recommended for the best specs of the box to produce the best sound quality from the sub?

2.5 tuned to 32-35..

need a box built..PM iamamp3pimp..

What box would work best with a Type R and 600 watts.

1.25 Sealed

2.1 Bandpass

1.8 Vented

Anyone know of xscorpion boxes. I was looking at there website and sub boxes are really cheap for the size. The bandpass box is 42.50 and the Vented box is 39.99.

So which box do you think will work good with a Type R and 600 watts.

Thanks

How can I wire the SWR-1222D so it makes a 2ohm load on my amp. I have 1 sub and 1 amp. I was looking around and the only way looks like I would have to only use one voice coil does that sound right. And If I do use one voice coil do you think thats safe?

Thanks

What is the mounting depth on 12 inch type R's? I have a box with a max mounting depth of 7 5/8 inches, will it work? Thanks for a great site.
it will work.. but just barely. mounting depth is listed as 7.7 inches and youre at 7.62.

it'll be tight but it should work.. luckily there isnt a pole vent so you can have it close to the back wall of the box. you should still try not to have the very back of the motor up against the wood, but it should be ok.

Why top and bottom not the same size on your figure ? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

*note- i also posted this as it's own thread, was worried it would get buried in here and never responed to*

i am considering putting a single alpine type r sub in my trunk. before i continue, here is what i currently have running:

Vehicle: 97 Toyota Camry

Head unit: Pioneer DEH-P7800MP

Speaker Amp: Infinity REF7541A

Front Stage: Alpine SPR-17LS

Rear Stage: Alpine SPR-69LP

while i like the sound that i currently have as far as clarity, presence and highs, no matter how much i fool with the eq, bbe, or loudness i am unable to get the full range in the lower spectrum that i desire. for this reason i am thinking about taking this next step.

i definitly have a tight budget, so from my research thus far the type r sub seem like a good fit to me. i listen to a wide assortment of music, mostly rock and jazz. i listen to a little hip hop but very infrequently. i am interested in good sound quality, and not interested in "booming".

i am considering either a single 10 inch or a 12 inch. due to money constraints i am not considering doing dual subs. the amp i am considering running for the sub is a pioneer "premier" prs-d1000m. the box will be a custom sealed box.

do you people think that making this move would make a big difference in my sound, adding the low end that i desire? would a 10 or a 12 inch be better for my situation? is the amp that i am looking at a decent choice?

any input on this big step for me would be much appreciated.
