subs have specs for a reason...or u can just build a box big enough for 2 18"s with a port big enough for me to get in and im sure itll sound great too....

im gonna second this, both have their ups and downs, i hardly think hdc3 is gonna take any more watts than a BTL though, hdc3 does have a nice price point though

if i was gonna buy again i would choose the BTLs for what i have now,but ive been thinking of switching to 4 15s and the hdc3s are up on my list along with the Fi BL's

u hardly think itll take more power than a btl? i have to disagree with that. i forget the forum but someone tested it on 4k and it was taking it well. i mean 3k and not even warm. and a btl on 4k? everytime i ask everyone says no dont do it..btl wont take it. .this is just from what ive seen from tests..no personal experience. but if anyone in washington has a btl 15" id be glad to do a comparison on different power levels..

I have been asked the "how much power can it take" many times and my answer is it depends on the APPLICATION and the SKILLS of the enduser.

Both AQ and FI use very good parts and construction methods and depending on the application and skill level of the enduser either sub will work for you.

I would not recommend using 3 or 4 thousand watts on ANY sub other then a 3 or 4 second competition burp; even then you are risking damage and greatly reducing the life of the sub.

Highly doubt that a single HDc3 is going to take an actual 4kwrms daily very long....
