PG County didn't get as bad as it is now until the DC Government started reforming SE. That drove all of the crazy poor people to PG...the neighboring county.

Compared to the rest of MC. Silver Spring is still the ghetto.

I guess your definition of ghetto may be a little different than everyone elses. Silver Spring is anything but ghetto. Check out areas such as hyattsville, landover, district heights, etc. Yes, those cities are in PG county but they are very close to SS. It's almost as if there's a barrier that people don't cross. I dare you to walk around hyattsville without a gun and a pitbull, you simply won't fit in.

Okay, to clarify as it seems as though I'm insulting this guy.. It's not THE GHETTO, but more like a ghetto compared to the rest of the county. THE GHETTO in Maryland would be the Oxon Hill area and some parts of Laurel...both in PG County. Also Baltimore City.

The general rule that you follow in Maryland, is that the closer you are to DC, the more ghetto the place is/ the higher the crime rate. Silver Spring is the closest city in MC to DC.

Take that for all its worth. I honestly don't have a problem with any area in Maryland. I grew up there.

Another general rule you follow is: the closer the city is to DC, the more expensive the area is. People like to live near the city for various reasons including commuting, which in turn raises housing prices. When that happens, the poor are forced out and the wealthy move in.

Exactly, the wealthy get the housing within city limits. The poor move out to the neighboring suburbs (ie., Silver Spring, Hyattsville, Landover, Oxon Hill, Clinton)

what a failure ahah the graph gives actual numbers not a percentage, and since whites out number blacks by far obviously there will be more or should be more whites in jail. but blacks are about the same as white which is quite sad.
