The Next Best Thing

Hi i currently own 2 Type-R 12" subwoofers and wondering what would be a nice upgrade? i would like to buy "the next best thing" for around the same price range or maybe $100 extra and would like 2 upp the size to 15" if possible.. i have a small car (300zx) and very strong components and no rear fill

and my amp is a MRD-M1001 1000x1rms alpine amp

Yup. In either a 2.25 ft^3 ported box tuned to 25Hz or a 1.0 ft^3 sealed box.

Car Audio and Electronics Magazine just had an article about it in either this month or last months issue. They seemed to be very fond of it

how much of a difference will the type x really have from the type r's. lets just say we went with a ported box for the type x. will it get louder, or clearer, or both? and by how much?

alls i know is that the one tiesto vid with the type x makes that sub look like the most anticipated weakest pos ever

Eventhough the type x is a better sub, going from TWO type r's to ONE type x likely wont be much of an 'upgrade', if any. If you want to upgrade to a single sub, Id look into the W7's, XXX's, Brahma's, Magnum's etc.

That would be a matter of opinion, to an extent. But no, I dont think type x's are even BL optimized.
