The new 4th gen Type R's

Whats you guy's opinion on the new type r series, the new series handles 600 watts vs the old 500 watt 3rd gen's. Whats the maxamum R's can take, I've heard of people feeding the 3rd gens 700 watts with now problems. With that said, would a guy be able to safely drive two 600rms type r's with say a 1500 watt amp.

my subs are rated for 600rms and I throw 1k to em daily they don't get warm so yeah type r's will be good

Yes they will be fine, assuming you don't send them a horribly clipped signal for long periods at a time. I have done a lot of testing with Type R's (3rd gen) and they will burp with over 2kw each easily and can take that musically for short periods at a time. Keep in mind this was with 2" coils while the new ones have 2.5" coils so that should help the thermal capabilities. All testing was done in a ported box or ABC box, no sealed box testing at all.

On 1500w a pair you won't even reach full potential from them, but they'll last a long time and get pretty loud (in a good box of coarse).

1500 will be fine. i had an installer tell me that the new type R's thermal cap. is 900watts. so 1500 (asumeing the amp is good quality) you'll be looking at 750 which is plenty safe. a custom box is better IF you know how to build one. if you don't then i'd sugest the obcon line. they make a alpine spec box. can find em for 100bux for 2 12's.

I couldn't agree more... I just don't have the tools or the time.... I only paid 95 w/shipping and its beter build quality than I good ever hope to even build.
