No, you misunderstood, I don't care that we're not allowed to use the n-word anymore, I rarely said it anyway, it's just dumb that a black racial slur is not allowed but the white slurs are, ya know? It's a double standard, if your going to ban one, you have to ban them all.

I understand, and to an extent I agree. But we aren't trying to change society here, we are simply trying to emulate what society seems to find acceptable, and what it doesn't. If the word "toaster" was considered offensive on a societal level, we'd likely be having this same discussion, about the word toaster. Hopefully you understand what I mean.

You should disallow *** too. It's funny when used in the dome, but IMO it brings down the intelligence level in the tech forums. Maybe allow usage of nga/*** in the done exclusively?

I agree. Also a racial slur can come in many forms. I could just as easily offend by saying tar boy or blackie for example. Just gonna have to censor as best we can.

If people don't realize how ignorant they sound by using certain words/carrying themselves in such a way, imposing rules showing them how to act like adults in a civilized society is the only solution the mods have. If people can't follow the rules, they can find another site to torment. This site used to be about audio. I'd rather hang out at DIY, but that site has fallen off the map. And I'm not paying a yearly fee/registering a NEW sn (since apparently they lost mine in the switchover and the Admin never replies to my emails about restoring my sn) just to read up on more than 5 threads a day.

So if we can make this site a little better by having some simple rules...rules that will make all of our posts sound more intelligent, I'm all for them.
