I'm asian, irish, english, and native american, and it bothers me when I see/hear it. It just feels disrespectful.

If someone found something on this site with google, then happened across that word, it might make him/her see the site as less welcoming or something. +1 for mods.

Not so far as I see it. If people want to start calling each other ninjas, and tell themselves they mean some other word, go for it. The point is to not offend other people with a word that has disrespectful connotations. Again we are not trying to stifle anyone's ability to express themselves. We just want everyone to feel welcome and respected here.

I hate that people are so touchy about this subject. You never see anyone complain about any of the above words being used on the internet , all of them are racist terms for another race and are just as bad as the other one , yet if i say ****** or jiggaboo , the naacp will be knocking on my door saying , "hey cracka , you can't say that." LOL

Its true there are many double standards out there. I imagine if it becomes an issue, we would have to regulate more terms. But I hope it does not come to that, I personally would like to see as little regulation as possible. Its up to the members to keep that from happening.

its true there are many double standards out there. I imagine if it becomes an issue, we would have to regulate more terms. But i hope it does not come to that, i personally would like to see as little regulation as possible. Its up to the members to keep that from happening.

Oh well, for the best of the forum I guess. Let this be an example though of what happens when people complain. It can be good, it can be bad. The mods will act on it if they deem it necessary. I would ask that the members here don't take advantage of this in the wrong way...think about the Hawaii audio banning. That is what happens when people complain. Use your complaints wisely...too many rules will hurt this forum more than help it!

Okay guys, the time has come. After discussing it between the mod staff, the decision is to disallow the use of the N word, in all forms. I know some of you will see this as over-moderation, and I apologize if you feel that way, but we have received some complaints over the use of the word (including the slang "nga") so it has been decided the best option is to ask/request/insist that forms of the word not be allowed. Nobody here is suggesting that previous usage of the term means the person is racist, but it clearly bothers some people, so for the sake of their views, we must ask that you find another way to express yourself. I understand the term, many times, is actually used to imply friendship, but even in those positive examples, people still see it as offensive. Please refrain from using the term, in all forms.
Again I realize some people will see this as over-moderation, and to those people I have no response that will satisfy their angst. I see it as trying to increase the friendliness of the site in general. Thank you for understanding, and please realize we did not come to this decision lightly. We do not wish to impose too many rules on you guys, but we also dont want anyone here to feel they are being treated as a second-class member based on race, ethnicity, or religion. Hopefully you all understand the basis for this decision.

In summary, the N word and its slang shortcuts are not considered acceptable any longer. I will sticky this thread for a while to insure most/all members have a chance to review the policy change. Thanks for your cooperation in this regard.

Old people were complaining about sound systems in Hawaii, so they were about to (or did) ban it. Lucky for them, it didn't last. But that's an example of when complaining can lead to bad things. I'm not saying that banning then n word was a bad thing, but it sure doesn't help an "addict" such as myself lol.
