They used a different architecture for years and switched over to x86 just recently. They hardly "let intel in", it was that or rely on motorolla. It was a matter of staying competitive and gaining market share.they used proprietary cpu's for years, they just started to let intel in, in the last couple of years, you could not upgrade there stuff in the past I have not used any new Mac's, but they seemed to have a lot of proprietary stuff in them a couple of years ago, did they not have there own socket MB'S and cpu's?
