Noah you sure do have a great education on subwoofers, not so much on your own forums rules.
Hey man you should post your build over here: http://wahmbulance.ning.com/

it's starting to sound like the best place for ya...

Bumpin, you should at least take note that intelligent people are advising you against the test ( Fi Car Audio, squeak, DevilDriver,nG, Kyle Keating, John_E_Janowitz, lilmaniac2, etc.)
And the "noobs" (in comparison with the previous names mentioned) think it's a great idea.

It's sounds like a good idea to me, but when I have 5+ people more intelligent than myself advising me against something I would probably heed some of their advise.
whats makes them intelligent?

To those of you who are so quick to dismiss this test, why not offer up some suggestions on how he could make it more "credible"? And yes, this sort of testing can be made credible with a little guidance.
Why bother? John & Kyle both tried to respectfully explain some of the problems and how the tests could be improved, but he didn't care to have any of. Instead he claimed they didn't understand the test and made up excuses of why he wasn't going to even attempt to accept or incorporate any of their advice.

So, it's been tried and failed.

x2 instead of being a bunch of asshats offer something useful that away the test could derive better results for everyone.
Hey, asshat, read the thread. They've tried to offer suggestions but bumpin buick simply made excuses about why he wasn't going to even attempt any of the ideas offered.

LOL......
I guess bumpin..... to make some of these people happy...

You could make a box for each driver built to specifics and just run the same amp to each sub on each criteria of the test...

And AGAIN I say, if sub A's impedance rise is a lot where as sub B's impedance is minimal... It looks like sub A just lost. To me that shows a problem area with sub A, not a install error
You are a prime example of why tests like this do more damage than good.

whats makes them intelligent?
Well, just off hand Kyle, John & Scott probably have more time designing, testing and building loudspeakers (properly) than the rest of the forum combined.

I would say that they would probably have pretty useful suggestions on how a test such as this could be improved upon to make it worth while. Much moreso than the ignorant masses who just keep screaming "Forget them, do the test" despite the fact they haven't a clue how to understand how useful (useless) the results will be.

Let the man do his tests and take it at whats it's worth. I am just glad to see some one do this and take there time to do the work and it's a lot of work..

bumpin buick if I can help in any way please let me know..

ok, looking back through some posts i have a basic suggestion.

just use the test to see what "size/volume" box each subwoofer performs "best" in. dont worry about TL numbers comparing one sub to another. what you will be doing is comparing one BOX to another. for example, nightshades tend to like small boxes ported, while AQ like "larger" boxes. just my opinion.

Why not take it as what it is.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

You got a car.

There is a box in it, and it's in the car.

A 15" sub is going in that box, thats going in the car.

Then we will run tests on all those 15"s in that box.

Then he will pull it out put in another box.

He will put all the subs in and get numbers and do testing for each..

and so on until all boxes and all subs are done..

I mean, he gives us numbers we know what he did.. I really don't see a problem with this.. I mean this is only to give you ideas and some test numbers to help chose the best sub for you.

It's only a test, am I missing something he is not doing? I have not read all posts so if I missed something sorry but from what I got it seems rather simple..

no, thats the idea. should work out good.

i dont see people jumping down other's throat's when they say "just swapped XYZ sub for ZYX sub and gained 2 dbeeez!"... this is the same idea.

Oh ok, I just thought I was missing something with everyone saying he did not listen to my idea stuff I am lost.. Seems rather simple to have so many ideas.. lol Know what I mean.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Kind of like I did a 139.1 max on a 15" tc/xxx did a 137.1 best on 2 pioneer 12" and hope to do 150 with my night shade thats coming so watch out next time. I was hopping to kick your butt that day but those 2 12"s just killed me.. lol
