The Great 15" Challenge

i think all of this should of been done behind closed doors, and then a thread started with all the info and results listed ,, instead of snowballing it all up
Yes, this is a good idea. It would almost be like a magazine column title stating 'Tune in next month when...' Doing that will allow the tester to move forward without any outside interference and provided that criterion and testing methodologies are stated up front, those who wish to rebuke it can do it in silence.

C'mon guys, this is supposed to be a fun hobby, not a fvckfest...

Who cares? If you have subs coming your way, do whatever the F you want to. I don't care if the results are based off which sub you think is prettier. You're the one running the test right? Nobody has to buy the subs you recommend. Nobody even has to read the results if they don't want to.

To those of you who are so quick to dismiss this test, why not offer up some suggestions on how he could make it more "credible"? And yes, this sort of testing can be made credible with a little guidance.

x2 instead of being a bunch of asshats offer something useful that away the test could derive better results for everyone. Thanks for trying bumpin buick.

K heres the thing, I keep getting hate PMs and negative remarks on here. If you dont have something nice or useful to say, or ask, keep it to yourself. Please, i really dont care what you guys think of my tests, if you dont like them then fine.
This is a public forum. Period.

It's an okay idea... but I just don't see the validity. It'll be cool to know I guess...
But then you'll be getting kids referring to this test as the law... or recommending one subwoofer over another just because of this one test. In reality it's far from that. Every vehicle is different. Every application is different.

As long as it is clearly stated that this test is not the law, then I guess I see no problem. I just feel that n00bx will misconstrue the results...

Good luck. This is a big ordeal to take on, lots of time involved.

That is the sole reason why Nick and Scott are not interested in sending out a woofer.

I posted the general problems with the tests very early on in this thread, and John later gave a specific critique of where the problems exist. Kyle tried to explain impedance to him, and even that was too complicated, so I'm sure he is the right person to conduct these "tests". Heck, I would admit that I'm not the right person to do these either based on the scale of the test and the challenge of capturing the physical information for low frequency drivers only.

You guys keep posting that your critics don't understand that the test isn't supposed to be perfect. To the contrary, we are the ONLY ones who understand just how imperfect this testing is; it is the people who are, for some reason, excited to see results that need the wake-up call.

LOL......

I guess bumpin..... to make some of these people happy...

You could make a box for each driver built to specifics and just run the same amp to each sub on each criteria of the test...

And AGAIN I say, if sub A's impedance rise is a lot where as sub B's impedance is minimal... It looks like sub A just lost. To me that shows a problem area with sub A, not a install error

This will be a good test and challenge.

This seems to be the best way to test subwoofers head to head so far. anybody else have a better way? chime in. dont criticize.

how the fvck else are we supposed to compare the performance of subwoofers? other than this type of test, you have people saying "yo i hit xxx.x db with my sub". well obviously its going to depend on the vehicle, box, install, amp and so on. in this test, a lot of those variables will be the SAME. SAME vehicle, amp, selection of boxes, SAME TL, install, etc.

GO FOR IT! im anxious to see some data

You must be one of the ones that need a wake-up call, according to DevilDriver. It's okay, I am too.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Yet again, you are showing how ignorant you are.

Impedance rise is NOT a specific set function of the subwoofer you fucking numbskull.

Noah you sure do have a great education on subwoofers, not so much on your own forums rules.
