The dreaded 5.25 speakers

Hello Everyone,

I did a quick search as i'm sure SOMEONE must have covered this topic but here goes.

MY sub and rear 6x9 speakers are completely overpowering my front 5.25 (i'm using my car's standard speaker mounts, otherwise i would have 6.5 in the front). Now i can appreciate using my head units settings to favor the front speakers more, but then i'm having to turn the volume up to suffice.

My two questions are -

1)Will my front 5.25 coaxial speakers be affected negatively by my need to raise the volume to compensate?

2)Is there anything i can do to level out the sounds in my car? Short of creating a space in my door panel for a pair of 6.5's or 6x9's?

this. get a set of Boston S50 speakers and amp em. They'll keep up with your rears and sub.

You could do that, however, it seems your rear fill is rather "loud" and "overpowering" the front. The 2ch amp on a nice set of speakers is a very easy and quick fix for the situation.

if you have the room, you could cut or MDF ring 6.5" spaces, and try to use shallow 6.5" speakers.

I don't think increasing speaker size is going to help him in this situation. Seems like the rear fill is much more efficient then the front(or a different ohm load) causing them to over power the front.

hmm. thats true. OP are your front and rear speakers the same as in OEM? or are the rears aftermarket?

I'd run a 4 channel either way that way you have more options down the road if u decide to redo all the highs

JBL makes speakers that come in all sizes and are 2 ohm.This will double your power to the front speakers and increase the output by 3db in theory but efficiency does play a role in figuring that out.I am pretty sure they sell these speakers under a different name also could be HK either way they are under the Harmon Group I am sure.
