Umm. New? I guess the Clarion DRZ9255? Some might say the McIntosh but it is really lacking in the D/A converter dept.

Of all time is hard, some people even prefer certain tape decks for pure SQ........

Denon Z1 is old and was never THAT good. I listened to one once and was not impressed. People like it just for the name....sure the quality was there, but it wasn't THAT great.

Although I think its the best currently under $700...

I must say the clarion DRZ9255 must currently be highly considered, $1300 msrp-the only one in the market w/ 4 sets of preouts w/ 4way xover with ability to go fully active with a 3 way fronstage- copper plated chasis, 'optical' in/outs....to date the sexiest rear end I've ever seen in a HU..... just lacks a little processing needs and not up to date with the current needs(mp3,sat)
