The best head unit I have ever seen!!!

My brothers Alpine system used to be like this way back in the mid-early 90's or before... Can't remember when he first got it. It wasn't all in one small HU like this though, it was many processors connected to the HU. Just press a button and it would play pink noise and totally adjust itself. Also when you were going over gravel roads or your windows were down it would adjust itself and bring the sound level up to match.. Pretty trick for those days... Alpine F1 Status stuff is the same thing in a smaller package.

I dont get Alpine's current business model.

They used to have all those great add on processors, eventually providing most of those useful features in the upper end of their HU's, culminating in the F1 system.

In recent years, every year they remove more and more DSP functions from their headunits, and their remaining DSP unit (h701) hasnt been upgraded or even reduced in price since it came out a few years back.

In an era of ever cheaper DSP chipsets that are better than ever before, has Alpine decided to just stop their DSP development so they can compete with the likes of Jenson and Dual in the mass market?

Hell my Pioneer adjust volume with noise level of my car (if I want it to) and it has a mic to automatically tune itself, time allignment and it cost a whole hell of alot less.

I know it's not the same as that Alpine , but c'mon if someone can't tune and tweak thier own HU, they shouldn't be in car audio. / Rant......

while we may like these features, the other 95% of the market couldnt care less. they just want something that plays their cds, gets good reception, and works with their ipod. they dont want a full on dsp that even if they do understand (which 99% of them dont) they dont want to spend 10 hours tuning the thing. you have to consider who makes up the other 95% of the market. they are a business, and they make what most people will buy. how many middle or low end decks do you think alpine sells for every one F1 that leaves the factory. probably 50,000 to 1. if they were to only produce high end audiophile gear, they wouldnt be where they are today, or in business at all. they are out to make money. other people make the dsp and other hardcore processing and high end equipment that we want, but they arent half the company that alpine is. zapco, nak, mcintosh, they are big, but not half as big as alpine, kenwood, pioneer, etc...

Very well said.

If your system cost more than your car, get a new car already.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif (just kidding)
