The $150 SPL Challenge

If you guys don't mind, I will be adding your Names and States to the stickied thread with rules. This way some one in your area can contact you about getting metered.

i have a term lab ....i'm thinking 4 classes...trunk...truck..hatch....and suv
4 classes with both legal/outlaw records? Making 8 total classes?

If we do break things down like that i will also offer up 2 extra plaques to the overall highest SPL achieved in legal and then one in outlaw as well.(10 total plaques, meh costs a me a bit, but for a good cause //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif)

There it goes.. Someone throwin woofers in a prefabbed box already! Told you guys it would happen, and hes just an example.

I say implement some form of rules like the frequency different or cone area/box volume limit to help push out the 'pre-fabbers'.

I say this because in my opinion, in case that person does happen to get a good score, I dont think it should go to someone like that as opposed to someone who perhaps used less woofers and a better design (with more work..) but didnt score quite as high.

I still say put a simpler limit on woofers/cone area and or box. Something such as a single 12, or two 8s. That is, if this is still supposed to be about efficiency and design within the budget. Not "see how many woofers you can throw together for the biggest number". A 140 with two 12s is fine, but a 134 off a single 8 is more impressive to me. Makes people think..

Just rambling more I suppose. Goodluck all.

I don't see a prefab being on top what so ever actually. They can get loud, but others will build/rebuild to beat other scores. I think by limiting the number of drivers we are insulting the idea of $150 total. That is not a lot of money, and this is will not be as easy as many think. Just like in a regular competition you have the freedom to purchase what YOU think will produce a winning score. Thus I think the options here should be the same. It is a 100% level playing field. If you want to challenge a build, then make them prove were you can buy their setup for $150 or less. If they can not, their score is out.

i got my systrm picked out ...now to see what can be done with it....lol...what would a corvette be considered like my old school...i doubt there will be a lot...but i've actuqally thought about bringing it to a USACi show...its more like a storage cubby hole....not really a trunk or a hatch...but after i fought with installing my 8 box i can't see trying it for SPL anymore
