this is a thread i made on another forum on the topic of setting gains and benchmarking amps.
the short version:
there are 4 specs -- voltage, current, impedance, power. knowing any two will get you the other two.
so this means if you use the clamp meter, you can't just measure voltage and current and multiply them to get power. it will give you power, but at an impedance that might not be 4ohm, or 2ohm, or whatnot.
there are a handful of other technical glitches that exaplain why people don't properly benchmark thier own amps.
