Testing the loooows??

Is there any way to test the lows in my system? Would putting a 25hz -1db test tone hurt my sub or amp?, because I'm trying to figure out how to make the lows get louder. I have a SE 15 off a JL 500/1v2 if that matters any.

yes, this may hurt your sub if you're not paying attention.

if you're running ported and not sure what you're really doing.. play the frequency at which your box is ported at or higher, this way you wont bottom out and should still get low..

if its sealed.. dont worry about the tone you play.. it most likely wont bottom out.. but be careful of thermal limitations... (that goes for ported too)

Well i have ported tuned to 34hz but in songs like "put on" and "late night tip" I dont seem to be gettin as low as i should? Its not really loud at all on the low notes, but other than that it seems fine.

I would go Sealed but I dont have the power to. With 500 watts I will significantly lose output and I really dont want to do that. Looks like Ill be building a new box tuned lower. 28hz or 30hz? I still want to hit most other notes jus want it to be louder with the lows.

its 4ft^3 before displacement. I didnt know much about it when I built it. jus a simple design none of the corners inside are angled or anything.

I run an SE12 off of a JL 500/1v2, trust me, you have the power to go sealed, if you wanted. I used to run mine in a 1.2ft3 sealed and loved it, it hit the lows very well, BUT just a few days ago I built a ported box and tuned to 27Hz and everything sounds A LOT better, I got better SQ and louder lows. It also hits the lows even better than the sealed.

From experiance, i would say to tune lower, you'll love it.
