testing fan motor

For a 96 grand am and i dont have the grand am to test it on. Theres one wire going to it so im guessing this is just a positve. There was a wire touching the metal when i took it off of the car in the junk yard. Is there away i can just hook up a wire from my car battery touch that metal piece that the positve was touching and ground it to just bench test it?

got it to work with a battery charger so thankz anyways
