Tested my subs today....

I am in the process of building a fiberglass box. My box isn't done buy I had all my equip. finally so I wired everything up just to test and it works.......only my subs were not loud at all!!!!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif Since I didn't have the gain set just right and all that good stuff I didn't try to crank 'em or anything, but I could hardly hear them.

After getting some input from others, mostly inexperienced people like myself, we determined that not being in a box, the resonant freq. was probably much lower than if it were in a box and because the freq. was so low, it was hard to hear. Does this sound about right or am I on crack???

No box = no sound, usually. There are some subs designed to play freeair but I'm going to go out on a limb and guess yours isn't one of them.

Nope. Designed for small sealed enclosures....more or less the opposite of free air subs.

There's your problem. You're not going to get a ton of bass out of your speaker if it's not in a box.

yeah once you get the box built what you should do is free air your sub and then drop your sub into the box at listen to the difference it huge
