I at the time just assumed more power. The regulator is working fine I'm sure of it. at 2000 RPM I can adjust the voltage.
Alts can handle up to 20,000 rpm intermitenly.So it shouldn't be a problem.I run a smaller pulley and have had no problems.i dont know if it will work. if you do get a smaller one you have to watch yourself and not rev your engine high enough to go above what the alt can spin at.
