I read from some thread About breaking in a Sub ..

i would like to learn more .

can someone share what you know about Running in or breaking in a Sub //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Breaking in mostly refers to burning off some of the glue on the coil and exercising the suspension; Cms (and naturally, all other thiele/small parameters that are derived from Cms) will change a little bit as well.

Sometimes this is noticeable by ear or through measurements; sometimes, you can't tell.

Is there a specific timeline that is considered a break in period? Not really.

I notice improve sound and bass from some of the sub i tested during my test product .

and also the a few of my older cheap sub improving in sound after running it for like a few days .

some installer will advice that you come back for tuning again after a few week of installation .

anyone know about how you can run it in using a test tone .

for like 10 min run for 3-4 time resting 10 - 15 min each session to cool it down

Really, any changes in sound are related to changes in Cms.

Using test tones is no different than using music to break it in. A faster way to break it in would be to play low frequency sine waves over a long duration.

I recall during some some of the test i run on the sub . the result from the test is different slight .

from when i burn it during the test and recon it to test it again .

is not just running at low Hz

but runnig it at the Sub FS .

i need mroe info on this as is still a much debated topic for some .

- i notice that if you do not play hard enough . on some of the sub - it will never be run in or it would rathe rtake a long long time to run it in .

the choice of music is also importance .

cos some music just never hit any low hz

my last installation i run it non stop for 2 hour on hip hop music . and rest for 1 hour or so .

took me about 3-4 day before i notice some improvment on the sound .

but during the lab test , when running at a low 30hz i notice the sub sound slight different after doing the run for like 10 min or so .

the advice is to run it FREEAIR without any blocking .

this is what i come across while reading up about sub ..

feel free to correct me if i am wrong any any pooint

Everything you have just suggested is related to exercising the suspension and changes in Cms.

Playing at the speaker's Fs will cause a delayed break in because excursion will be decreased.

Playing a speaker free air will likely cause a quicker break in because excursion will be increased.

There is not really any mystery to it; no magical frequency, no magical power input, no magical conditions. You just need to use it.

Most all manufacturers suggest a break in period...i never noticed much of a change when i got my s10l5's. I ran one for about 2 weeks at mid power, put the second in and full blasted, never noticed anything.
