hey everone. theres this really rich kid at my hs who has a 1501d with a 12w7. when i turn 16, im going to run a hifonics brutus 1000d with 2 alpine type-r 1241ds. which setup would be louder? the type-r one or the w7?

this really depends on the box and install....but if you did both setups correct i think the w7 may come out on top....it's got more than twice the xmax so that makes them pretty equal output wise

Your Type=R's

Your comparing 2 12's vs. 1 12". 2 12's = more cone, plus a 12W7 is 3ohms SVC so it will only see about half +/- the power from that amp. Your Type-R's will be louder! Install is key!;D

Ive heard 2 15" Type Rs hooked up to JL 1000/1 amp. They sounded weaker than the JL 10"s that were there. Both in Fiberglass wall.

I dont know what ur talking about when ur saying type r's dont it well... they arent designed for straight spl but to say they dont bump that well is crazy

they do hit pretty **** hard IMO, my friend had 2 type R 12s with 500 RMS going to them in a sealed 1.25 cube box and won a local comp around here with 143 dbs, not bad IMO

I bought a couple type-rs in the past because of the great reviews here.

I can say from experience Type-R's lick balls.

My 13W7 owns them in every way.
