Tell me if there is a better buy for this price..

do yourself a huge favor, read and research and build a ported enclosure then buy a single sub with the money you have. it will be soooo much louder...
This.

Most systems do not produce the volume or sound they possibly could because of the lack of a properly built enclosure.

I do like SPLaudio's idea of getting one ****** woofer (probably a 15") and throwing that in a ported box.How many of you think that's a better idea than two twelves sealed?

The available space you have would dictate what size and type of sub you could have. You have remember, just because you have 3ft3 there does not mean you will after port and subwoofer displacement.

Yeah you're right about that.. My sealed box is 2.5cubes total and I couldn't get much bigger than that. I have a REALLY small trunk.

I probably could if I set the box at the back of the trunk with the speaker facing forwards, but then I have zero trunk..

Best bet is to get some measuring and let us know what you have to work with. A set of 8s can do wonders as well //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Hopefully you can make sense out of this.. I made it a while ago

I also have a super small hole in my trunk, like my trunk lid is almost flat, it doesnt drop down with the license plate on it like achievas and impalas and bonnevilles do.

This would be a top view of my trunk, like this is the floor layout. The triangle at the bottom is a side view of the trunk, cause my backseat is slanted. the lowest part of the trunk is 15" from the bottom of the trunk.

The center of my mids are 7 and a half inches from the side of the trunk and they drop down 2 inches deep.

This is what I mean by small opening..

The small opening can be worked around. Just have to buy some cardboard and make some "template" stlye boxes out of cardboard and then see if they fit.
That's not a bad idea. We have literal TONS of cardboard at the shop, so that part shouldn't be a problem //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

But that isn't really practical if you plan to upgrade power eventually, then you either have to buy more subs or buy different subs. If you leave headroom and get subs that are rated at say 900 watts each then he can upgrade to an amp that's bigger and save more money.
Not everyone upgrades every few months, or every year. However, i do have a 1200 watt amp that allowed me to run my current setup at the 870 watts, then i was able to experiment with some new brands like dc and fi and use the 1200 properly. so if ur smart u will just have the right amp when u start out

But quite a few people on this forum do, that is why my idea applies. If you have 2 subs that will take 900 wrms each, and you put them both on a total 900 wrms, they will sound great, and they will be louder if you put them on a 1800 wrms amp. So really, it is just a matter of preference. So you are smart to just ask advice.
