Tell me if there is a better buy for this price..

I have a Kenwood-9105d amplifier that puts out 900w @ 2ohm.

I have a sealed box for two twelves that is 1.25 cubes per side.

 

I have been looking at a pair of new Alpine Type R's (last years model [sWR-1222d]).

I can get a pair of these for around $250 shipped.

 

Is there anything that would be better for that price?

NOTE: Please don't just tell me to get a better amp, I will someday when I have the funds..

 

Kenwood KFC-xw1222d? Orion XTRpro122? Cerwin-Vega V-Max122?

For 300 I could get a pair of Rockford Fosgate Punch P3D212s..

but you probably think im just trying to sell you some of my crap lol, and i know they are not name brand so check out some audioque sd2.5's or fi audio ssd's. both a tad more expensive but definitely worth it. im assuming that 250 is for both as well, if its for each then you have nearly infinite better options.

Forget lame Fosgate p series subs. But if you have the power for them, maybe they will do. I'd rather get used rf hx2s or similar..Or some other dealon other used oldschool subs

ya that is why they didn't go into production, but they were designed and produced to go in their flagship subwoofer that sells for over 1000 bucks

but whatever, dont buy them, thats why i gave other suggestions haha, im not making any money off them anyways so im not too anxious to sell them. Look into those SD 2.5's from audioque, they get loud off of not a whole lot of power and a little headroom is always nice in case you accidently clip them or want to upgrade amps in the future

and where are they for 50 bucks cheaper?

do yourself a huge favor, read and research and build a ported enclosure then buy a single sub with the money you have. it will be soooo much louder...

i take it the alpine subs u can get are used?

i would probably go with dayton HF 12s, $140 each, look good with 1.25 cubic foot sealed, 400 rms each so the 900 would push them well, and not be under powering them where ur 900 watts to 1000 watt subs would love more power

Having head room is always good though, that's why we suggest something that can take more power.

i like to have more power than the subs are rated personally...

But that isn't really practical if you plan to upgrade power eventually, then you either have to buy more subs or buy different subs. If you leave headroom and get subs that are rated at say 900 watts each then he can upgrade to an amp that's bigger and save more money.

Thank you all for your input, I checked out everything everyone suggested and I didn't find anything I liked..

 

I do like SPLaudio's idea of getting one ****** woofer (probably a 15") and throwing that in a ported box.

If/when I do upgrade I'm going to upgrade to thousands of watts of power. I mean all new everything! Even a new car.
