Hey bro , you don't need a teacher. You just need to be dedicated. First thing you do is learn all of your basic chords (A,B,C etc) . Then learn Bar chords. Then start learning your sharp and flat chords etc. It is a learning process. Scales REALLY help for finger speed, and for learning your notes in general. They also help you brainstorm solos. Start learning the major scales, Then learn your minor scales, then learn blue's scales (pentatonic scales). See how this goes? Just keep progressing. Believe me I know. Use that website for help, there is a ton of stuff that will help you there.EDIT: PM me if you need more info man, I'll help you the best I can and get you pointed in the right direction

no problem dude, good luck learning how to play. it is SO much fun. it's the challenge that really makes it satisfying. guitar is not easy to play. practice, practice, practice!!

The negative to lessons is they can be boring.

The negative to being self taught is you learn bad habits you will never break that will hinder your playing later on as your skills progress.

Learning from friends that play is fun and you will be playing songs quicker but again you learn bad habits.

Don't take any form of lessons. just learn at your own pace. Get familiar with bar chords, basic major chords, minors, sustained chords, and lastly... power chords if you're into shitty punk noise. Or Nirvana.

I suggest you pick a song, pluck one note at a time to get the rythm and basic melody then look up (or if you know them already and can recognize from the molody) the chords. Learn different strum patterns, trilling and double picking. Don't be afriad to put down the pick too. Learn to use all your 5 fingers on your strumming hand to pick at the same time if the song allows for it. Take your time and DONT DO SHORTCUTS! Just because (for example) using one finger to fret 3 strings is easy, try using 3 fingers most of the time. You wont regret it.
