TC Sounds recone on my RE Destroyer (PICS!)

Well would the faulty RCA affect the sub in a weird way? Cuz it's like this; I have the RCA cable coming from teh sub output on my HU to my 2500d. The Red end of the rca puts out no sound when I plug it into either of the inputs on the amp, but the blue end of the rca puts out sound in either of the inputs. So the red one doesn't work at all. Which means I'm only getting a signal from one of the RCA leads (the blue one). Would that make the sub **** up at high volumes?

no

it just halves the signal going to the sub, but the crap signal going to the amp, should be filtered out by the amp anyway. it is possible that the RCA shorted somewhere damaging your HU, causing it to send an unpredictable signal to the sub.......or that your clipping the Shit out of your setup....

all are a possibility. I hope it isnt the sub, i know you have high hopes fo rit.

Well I just got up to the shop so I'm gonna tear the stupid dash apart and try a new RCA cable. If that doesn't work, what else could I do to try and eliminate this problem? Everythings wired fine, the last sub worked until I fried it lol.

I can eliminate the amp as the source of the constant low tone because of this: When my sub blew I put my old 10w3v2 in there that was running off of my old rockford fosgate 300 watt amp. that's always my little back up set up you know? But when I plugged it in, it too made the low tone sound constantly. It had never done that before, so that's why I figure it's the RCA cable. I guess I'll replace it and post up on how it goes.

Well I'm stumped. Instead of pulling out the HU and using a different RCA here's what I did. I took the RCA for my rear speakers and hooked it up to my 2500ds inputs. I gave it a full signal from the HU and then kept my LP filter on my 2500d at about 80hz. I know the rear RCA cable works cuz my speakers sound fine, yet the sub was still making the chattering sound at high volume/excursion.

Could it be my amp possibly? I pulled my amp apart yesterday and there was nothing burned or charred or fried or anything on the inside... I'm at a loss here and I need the system ready by Sunday for the grand opening. So WTF could it be?!

Oh, and here's some pics of the amp, I swear it's completely fine...

I was told the white shit on the circuit boards is normal and it keeps corrosion down. Nothing has popped or exploded it all seems to be fine. so wtf?

It could just be that the softparts used are not compatible with your motor, its a risk that one takes when using parts not specificially designed nor made for said motor.

so much for that break in.....
I'm not even pushin it super hard. Like it's loud I guess, but I know how loud it can get cuz of my old Destroyer, and when it's makin weird sounds, it's no where near it's full potential.

I sure hope everythings compatible, I'm gonna be pissed if it's really that ****e dup.

I mean that one guy got his MT reconed by TC and it worked fine, he loved it. I have really bad luck when it comes to car audio btw. I always get something that's not workin right, so who knows what it could be. Any help is appreciated I've tried so much shit I'm gettin tired of it cuz nothing's working.

Bring it back with your car, we should test it in your box.

I just turned up Grills a tad bit and it hits ****ing hard. But I turned it back down immediatly cuz the cone's surround extended so much that it got all distorted looking at full peak. It had dimples in it and it was all creased looking. and the sub mate a sort of chattering noise in addition to the bass. So I stopped, not sure why it did that though cuz the gains are set perfectly, not a tad bit over, and I only turned it up to 28 out of 35. And the iPods not turned all the way up either. With the old Destroyer I could turn it up to 35 out of 35 and it would sound find, no popping or weird noises. I always kept it to 32 at most, but still I could turn the old one all the way up with no problems unlike this one.

The impedance is different, so the number gains mean nothing beacuse you need to measure the power going into the driver. We need to test it and see how much excursion you are getting and what frequency the noise is being made at in your box.

hey- not sure if it matters or not, but i noticed in this picture

the spider and the landing or whatever the spider is connected to definitely doesnt look so glued. Maybe thats why its distorting at higher volumes- just a guess sorry your having problems
