TC Sounds recone on my RE Destroyer (PICS!)

Yeah I agree, it seems that the parts they have just aren't compatible with the Destroyer motor. I mean they had to unwind the coil to make it fit you know? It just sucks cuz I think I just lost 200 bucks and I was really expecting it to work great because of that recone they did on that 18" MT that went so well.

personally.. along with the obvious deflection... I don't think the moving assembly is balanced too good either..

I'd raise the white flag and surrender on that driver... lol

I'd also refund a portion / all of your money... they should have realized they couldn't get it do work correctly, and suit your needs after they assembled it back, and tested it..

If I was to get it redone by RE it woulda ended up around 250 to 300 because of the Kevlar cone. I don't know what it would've costed to get it reconed with the regular parts. I really didn't want to deal with RE at the time though because of all the complaints of horrible customer service and haggard turn around times. Plus shipping fees and what not.

Yeah, TC seemed to be the better option. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

You write your post acting like I'm a dumbass for chooseing TC or something. How was I supposed to know it wasn't gonna work? It's not like it had ever been done before, and the MT worked, so we all figured this would too. waj

First off, the sub was a custom one-off piece from RE.

Now you are going to take it to a completely different manufacturer and expect it to work?

Why didn't you just deal with RE (the company who knows how the sub works) and get a correct recone in the first place?

For all the time you've spent dealing with TC, and all the gas money wasted, you could've saved time and money just sending it back to RE.

The most cost effective part for that recone is indeed the Custom Kevlar Cone that I have to get you. It's a very very rare part that even RE doesn't have. If you want to get it built back to a regular destroyer...it'll cost you around $100-120. Give RE's tech line a call and ask for David. He'll take care of you as he's taken care of many others.

Or if you want...drive it over to Advanced Car Creations...and I'll rebuild the sub for you back to a regular Destroyer. I have recone kits available at the shop. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

live and learn?

I think that not only should TC be thanking him for being as patient as a saint but we, the consumer, should as well. If not for him then no one would know that it isn't possible, how else are things figured out?

I don't know how this is gonna end but i don't see why they, TC, couldn't end dealing with RE with getting it reconed. I'm sure it'd put them out more money but would be more right of them then just giving a POS back and refunding his money, even though they've handled themselves very well up to this point i think they owe it to him.

Just a unbiased opinion.

Being the ginuea (sp?) pig hasn't been to bad. I'm just hoping for a good outcome where I'm not down 200 bucks. I'm allready down 750 in this car audio obsession of mine cuz of getting scammed twice and paypal being the ultimate ****:crying:

Yeah, sorry bout that. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

I just figured that either way was going to have some consequences.

RE: turnaround time and customer service

TC: not their sub, difficult to mimic performance.

In the end, I felt that the smarter choice would to just go back to the manufacturer themselves since they are the most knowledgeable about the sub. Especially since this is a custom-made piece.

Yeah I didn't add in the fact that it's a custom sub when thinking about getting it reconed by TC. I figured sinec the MT 18 worked that my Destroyer would come out fine. Kyle thought the same thing, so I don't think it's a big mistake on anybodys part for attepting it.

And in no way is it TC's fault for not being able to make it work because of skill or knowledge or anything like that. The parts just seem not to match up.

I don't mean to sound like I'm giving up, I mean if TC can figure out a way to make it pound and sound good and be able to take at least 2000 watts like it could originally, I'm all for it. But I'm not willing to pay anymore because I was paying for it to be reconed to it's original state or better and that's it.
