TC 12 OEM problem

Ok, so i hooked up my Brand new Tc 12 OEM today and somethings wrong. When its playing on certain notes it sounds like something is hitting the inside of the cone. Any ideas what it could be? I took the sub out and looked around and it doesnt look like anything is loose or flailing around inside. Thanks!

I dunno what it could be. I know the guy you got it from personally and they were still new from TC. Hell he might have sent you one he never even opened.

I dont doubt that the sub was still unopened when I got it, im just trying to figure out whats wrong.

Free air?

If so it has a much larger chance of bottoming out than in an enclosure. If it is in an enclosure, its possible that the VC is misaligned, my forst BM had a misaligned VC and it caused noise. If that is the case the only course is a recone.

Ported box? Loud rattling can be an indication of air leaks.

You may want to check the glue joint between the surround and the basket.

Yea, I would go with air leaks, bottoming out, clipping or a misaligned VC.

I have the same problem with mine, only thing I dislike about the sub... Only happens when I'm realllly pushing it though.

I'm pretty sure its bottoming out at that point.

Make sure the dustcap is secure.

I recommend plugging it into a wall socket, that usually strightens coils out. Always works for me when they need to be punished.
