Tattoo Ideas

well now im 18, im getting a tattoo.

so, i want to get something cool, but i dont really know what i wanna get.

i was thinkin about getting a pair of stars on my upper chest (one on each side), but i see those every where, and id kind of like to be original.

so toss me some ideas, i know its very vague, but the criteria i have to work with is that id like to get TWO opposing tattoos on either side of my uppper chest.

If you cant think of anything you want yourself, you would probably be better off not getting anything.

Just think, its gonna be there for the rest of your life- think long and hard about it, decide if you really want it.

im asking for ideas, like general things.

not specifics, which i would of course decide on my own.

just throw me some generalizations.

Thats permanent, man. (unless you want the pain/expense of removal).........no reason to do it just because youre 18 now. Take a while and think about it.

still dude a tat isn't something you should just think of for 2 seconds and get it. my 2 that i have, the one i my leg i wanted for 3 years the one on my back i thought about for about 9 months.

I wanted one for a long time too.. but I didn't know what to get.. so I didn't get one.

Then, a year ago.. I finally had an idea of what I wanted.. and where I wanted it. Everything fell into place, and then I got it. That was when I was 22...

Untill you KNOW what you want.. don't worry about getting one.

three of the most regretted:

cartoon characters,

sports logos,

names of people(children/parents not included).

go to a shop, or online, or in a mag, and look at flash to draw ideas from.

and

It depends on the area and level of expertise. Most quality artists will not charge less than $100/hr unless you are friends with them. If you want a nationally known one you can easily run that price up quite a bit. You don't want to "save" money by getting a tattoo from someone who is just learning or who thinks they know what they are doing. It's a permanent fixture on your body, not something you do without researching.

Same thing to the original poster. I thought about my first tattoo for four years before I got it. Right now, I have thought about me second one for two years, and I haven't even got the right calligraphy for it yet to move on to the next step. But here is an idea:

agreed....you should have to think about what you want for a tattoo....the process should be......."hmmmmm...this would be a cool tattoo. i think im going to get it" not " i think i want a tattoo now that im old enough to get one...what should I get" and stars are just flamer'ish...unless its with a complete scene..which is obviously big bucks. i dunno about heresy's up there....whats the meaning?? looks kinda.....girly
