i dont think you need "roots" or being able to speak the language to get something different tattooed on you. I plan on getting something like "keep your head up" or "Stay strong" in some time of japanese symbol

i used to hate when people would have me put shit on them in other languages... I dont think most of you realize that english quotes dont really translate well in any language... if you want another language get one of their quotes... I have had two people in my years come back to me complaining that the tattoo they brough me to do on them was mis translated and wanted me to some how mask it... It isnt as easy as it may seem.... Plus most tattoo artists will think your a douche bag...

I don't speak japanese but I'm getting it in japanese kanji for 4 reasonsive never seen anyone with a kanji graffiti (kanjitti?) tattoo before

ive seen many people with an english graffiti tattoo

i know that the symbol means soul

i'm part japanese and so it ties into my roots

you've never seen kanji graffiti, but you've seen graffiti tatts in general, so it's not original if that's what you're trying to get it. plus go somewhere where they speak(or write, i'm not well versed on kanji) it, and i'm sure they're all over.

people who get tattoos just to be original, get them for the wrong reasons. i'm sure the very first person who had a barbed wire tattoo, or a cyborg tattoo, thought it was the shit, now look how trashy they all are.

just my two pennies, don't take it personal.
