Tantrum 1200.1 huge current draw

i just got a tantrum from folgrz...and i hooked it up, and after a few burps, it basically drained my battery. At one point the amp shut off and turned back on after i reved the engine a little. And the subs were barely hittin. The amp was pushin the subs really really hard and loud, and was dimming alot. But after awhile it started to tone down...i need specific instructions basiaclly to be able to feed this amp.... i was thinkin a yellow top and big 3, but my alternator is under the front of the battery and almost under the front of the engine, so it would be a pain in the ***. what about red tops? i dont have more then 200 to do the whole upgrade////what about rewinding my alt??? i need all input

How large is your alternator?

I'm running a T1200.1 off of a 135A with no dimming, 100A fuse in the distribution block that hasn't blown yet.

i used to run my tantrum and a ti500.4 off a 90 amp alt with minimal dimmage.

its a acura rl 1999...the alt is under the engine so i dont know how to find out the amps it puts out...

go to http://www.autozone.com and look up an alt for your car and see what amp it is and most likely yours will be that amperage

ist prolly an HO alt tho...im stock hehe...and i hear its 110amp

135A is 135A...

You shouldn't have major problems with a 110 amp alternator, unless you're running something massive for your front stage //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

135A is not high output....

If you are not up to doing the work to make your set up perform correctly, then get rid of it... The Big Three is a pain in the *** on many vehicles, but if it needs to be done then do it. You should be fine with 1200w on a stock alt, I had it on my stock 90A (not the same amp, but 1200w) and I was fine with the Big Three.

And yes, if you are going to replace the battery then a Red Top would be a decent choice..

Are you sure you have the speakers wired correctly?

And by SURE, I mean you have gone over them after the installation was done...

i have a pos wire into the pos all the way on the left and the neg all the way to the right
