Tantric, Sundown who are you again?

loud cars with a single sub isn't anything new. Nate Munson did impressive numbers (passed 170) with a single Kicker Solo X 10+ years ago

Competitor Stats: Nathan Munson

as mentioned, Extreme class is pretty pointless and not applicable for daily drivers. loud vehicles that also sound good on music are worth talking about.

only the people who have ran multiple brands of monster subs can comment on which they prefer.

arguing your opinion which is based on what you read in forums is pretty ignorant.

going to SPL shows, you see every brand of sub and every brand of amp competing in vastly different vehicles and in almost every case it's the install and implementation that wins - not the product. they are enclosure competitions, not sub competitions, IMO. do people see losses/gains on the meter by switching the type of drivers? yep. but the system is rarely optimized for the situation - most enclosures i see in comps or forums are just crammed into available space.

being loud in a car is no big deal to people who fill stadiums full of coherent music. "go play with your hot wheels, kid - adults are working over here"

it's a similar argument for chevy vs ford vs chrysler vs import vs german vs italian, etc. for 1/4 mile or 0-60. fastest cars down a 1/4 mile each year are not based on the brand engine or body, but the build teams attention to detail and dedication.

as far as SQ cars go - it's also like being the fastest kid with downs. no matter what you spend or do, a pair of decent towers (that cost a fraction of what is spent in the car) in a decent room will outperform any car at any price. car audio has a ceiling in what quality is possible, home audio does not.

Put an SPL guy in front of some of Tom Danley's bigger designs and even they'd be blown back, probably literally, at least for fullrange SPL purposes lol. I believe it was PWK who said it best, "using SPL at a measure a peak SPL reading is like building a microwave just to measure it's emissions." Once you stop using your ears at all it kind of defeats the whole purpose. He was more talking about people who get overly concerned with numbers (ie the idea that a car that does a 150.2 but sounds like crap and has a narrow bandwith is "better" than a car doing 148.x all the way from 30-60, however the point still stands. Heck I've seen people in car audios scoff at the matterhorn that Danley made, but it does 150+ from several feet out and does it from 8hz all the way up, like a ******* boss lol. Show me anyone doing a park and pound score of 150+ at 8hz and i'll be impressed, especially since Danley did that as a "drop in score" if you will. No real world testing, just good models, did the build and boom.

That didn't answer the question but it does explain your loyalty to lower quality brands. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
No loyalty, I've always liked Toyota. Drove every mid size Sedan under 30 grand. Honda, Toyota, VW, Hyundai, Kia, Subaru, Nissan... Guess what? Ford was better built, better optioned, better quality, better engine.. And that front end is ***

Danley set us some speakers to test. We design permanent installation sound systems and they wanted our opinions on several products. We couldn't get the "big boy" though.
I really wanna do a big *** tapped horn build. But from what I've seen, the bigger you with a tapped horn in a car, the more you're creating a tapped horn out of the car.

These threads really kill me.

Anyway -- I am pretty sure Tantric is doing their thing just fine and doing good numbers / making their customers happy. Just talked to Murph today, in fact =)

I know we are as well. Really been concentrating on products for our dealers this year, though.

It's car audio -- buy a sub you like, listen, enjoy! Heck I've owned 10 or 12 DD subs in the past for that matter.

I hear ya jacob. I love these threads. Where the person or person say oh it's American because they said so , but really have no clue about what they're talking about I could tell you I make subs that 100% American made which my be true to a point but dig deeper and find out only assembled in USA

I actually really like this comment, damn forum won't let me hit "like" twice. I've never met an audio product I didn't like. Well maybe those tiny 6" prefab loaded sub enclosures you could buy from JC Whitney back in the 80's. But even then you could remove the speakers and could easily find an application doing something else.

That's what's cool about those Syergy horn. With careful planning he can literally just keep adding speaker after speaker without losing any real detail since it's still basically acting like a point source.. I think his biggest one has like 64 speakers per side and he has said he can go bigger, but hasn't found a use for anything larger at this point. That one is all treble so it's like 150db+ from 1000hz and up. Then he has a fullrange horn that does 150+ from like 40hzand up, maybe lower, IDK for sure, but basically fullrange for most music in any case.

Y'all get way to butt hurt and defensive. It's a speaker not your mother. Why so serious? I posted a thread having some fun with a new product and everyone goes straight into the I know more than you defense mode. It's comical really. Why do you guys think this hobby gets trolled so much?
