It's been good! Been around like crazy lately getting y oldest ready for school, and a lot of extra board meetings in Jackson because school getting back in. PM me your addy and I can get that cd back to you(and no to the people reading this that grew up in the 80' and 90's, it's no the beginning of a see deez nuttz joke, I actually have a CD of his that he left in a CD player we traded).

There is a time and place for all audios, if you really loves the sounds. I replaced a tiny Tv speaker in my television back in the day because I loved the way a bigger speaker made my John Holmes porn sound more full and proportionally correct.

here os my take on dd:

yes they have good subs

yes they hold the current world record with a sub whose price they wont even list on the website

they are quickly loosing records across the country to companies like tantric, in fact in louisiana tantric has taken the majority of the records

fact dd was not the first company to break 180db pioneer was

fact for the money i can find similar performance elsewhere

fact even if the coil, cone, surround, and spiders where made in the usa that doesnt immediately mean quality.

yes dd has decent quality control but when i ran them i had several subs with sloppy glue joints and triple joint failures.

build buy hand isnt really a good thing human error is always a problem

i still have a few dd subs but dont use them i love dd amps but currently sold all of them

jl doesnt hold record with any of there door speakers or subs for the top two sq car they only supplied the amps

the worlds top sq car uses hybrid audio technologies 3.5inch mids 8inch mid bass, 4 6.5inch subs and 6 jl hd750/1 amps with a custom audison bit one doing all the processing

Mark was the highest score in master in 2013 , but @ finals Steve Cook was top single seat score , and right now Mark owns the 10th best score in MECA currently, and I did not know @world finals in db drag you could use a different meter than the TL , I believe finals were in Louisville that year and I am pretty dam sure I don't remember them changing mic for anyone

What is ironic is Steve Cook was Team Pioneer (SPL) that year and was formally Team DD that guy has been around

So you just described 99% of people in car audio including yourself? Very few people started off with their first ever build (unless they had a knowledgeable friend) with AB, SQ, Sundown, DD, AA, IA, etc...

The sub you listed, yea it will perform well. But when it comes down to it, they're all going to be similar. Its more about your own taste in sound. You say your DD blew everything else you had out of the water, maybe I think my SA-12's sound better... Its truly a matter opinion. Grant it there is the SPL side of things, but in similar pricing and power they are going to be very similar.

Regardless if it was term lab or not pioneer was to first to do it on level playing field Alan Dante did it after on the same meter.

Your points are skewed you only find a few instance that barely support your theory. I'd be willing to bet if Dante switched his 18 for a IA warden or DC neo he would send similar performance for half the price of the dd.

And let take 3 mid line subs

Which will sound the best for the money? Prolly the image dynamics since it is the cheapest of the bunch and maintain a solid standing in the sound quality competition range

Which is loudest well the dd can be but in a drop in comparison on 750w you'll be hard pressed to see much change on the meter.

I don't need to see which is better I've watched it in the local sound comps tantric is gaining ground steadily. I've seen a shd take 5 daily no problem I've also watched dd 9500 burn on the same power. Why? Simply because a 3 inch coil can only take so much.

I'm not arguing with you, but lots of people say "3 vs 4 inch coil, not fair." Gotta compare 4 to 4, SHD vs 99, not 95

I had two 9512H series and didnt care for them much at all. Did a drop in swap with some sa12's both on Skar 4500 and there was not really an audible difference. The sa12's also played lower better than the dd's just my personal experince

yeah but when you start a "who was tantric" thread, your talking about ANY tantric. The SHD is the equivalent of a supercharged 99 series with The tantric is rated for higher power, the DD is underrated though, I can't speculate on power handling. However, biggest point here is a SHD is NOT in the ballpark as a 9500, the SHD is playing in the "major leagues" 9500 like it or not would be playing overseas in some chinese league, lbvs. The 9500 series is more like a HDD, which most DD dealers won't be at a comparable price, even paying shipping with for the HDD. The SHD is WELL under $1000 shipped probably anywhere in the USA I would imagine from the prices I've been quoted by Murphy.. Maybe a 24 shipped cross country, but thats the cone area of 2 18's in one freaking sub.. Come on now lol.

Point is the market isn't where it was in the 90's when DD was winning everything. Go to shows, those days are basically done. Most of the records that still exist for DD are because most people aren't going after them. There are a lot of ****** tantric and sundown builds that are bass race style (all tantric subs are designed for music, first and foremost) that still put up good numbers that win contests and set records. Sure the loudest car in the world may use DD, but really who cares. Extreme cars aren't even cars anymore, I bet a walmart pioneer puts up a 60+ in that car anyways. It's just guys with a **** ton of time and money who aren't even playing music anymore or even have a car that can be driven at all burping one tone hitting 180+. Great engineering feat, useless for what 99.9% of us really care about, like it or not.

According to the 2014 dbdrag points standing a lot of people are still using DD.
