one thing that i was looking in to get was a panel saw, like what home depot got. i have a wood working magazine that has the blue print for making one.

maybe when i take vacation for a month or something.

i wish my table saw could cut a big sheet, to manageable sizes. but that also means getting that big panel under control and managing it while cutting it. for now ill stick with the circular saw and a guide for cutting the big panels in to smaller ones, before getting them on the table saw.

but that drawing looks very good. bro, looks like it will be very handy specially in a small shop, with them folding tables on it.

I often use those cheap foldup tables(like 3' wide by 7' long) to help catch rips and butt cuts that are otherwise unmanageable. They have adjustable legs so you can get the height pretty close. Not as good as a built to spec catch table, but, when you have them, they work great. Especially for those smaller portable table saws. Nice work mikey. Another thing to mention is that if you need to rip like a 32 inch piece, it is much easier to rip the 16 inch piece, allowing for the width of the blade, so that your fall-off is actually the piece you want. It's fairly common knowledge, but I'm surprised how many people don't do it that way.

i was considering building a few of those, or buying. anyhow i figured i would give this a shot since it gives me something to build. i have used that method before and it is indeed quite effective. thanks

im attempting to show how the table is pretty much as high as the table saw. its a little lower at the back where the wood drops off but the side is the same height. there is one spot near the far right in the first pic that is a little higher then the rest. that will be fixed. other then that the wood slides smooth from the table saw onto the table without catching

i got bored so i went out and did some more work.

i lowered the piece that was interfering with the smooth sliding of the wood along the back table piece. now it slides freely. i also put a 1/4 skirt i guess you could call it hah. looks better imo, and when i instal the folding table pieces it should help keep it strurdier in a way.

lol its a racing bike so its not for everyone. weighs like 10 pounds

You know, I've actually thought about how to expand a regular old table saw for more table area like you're doing. I think of the one they use on Unique Whips (sorry, I had to go there). They have a HUGE table area. That's what I'd like to have.

funny that you say that, because i was watching that this morning and noticed there table setup. not the first time i have, but ya its pretty sweet. mine should have a huge table area when completed. already ive noticed a difference in how much easier it is to cut a long piece of wood with the side table helping. its great

instead of building a table i screwed a 2x4 to my wall to let mdf ride on ... its the same height as my table saw... just did this yesterday when i hung my shelves.. works pretty well.. im going to sand it down to make it super smooth.. may even through a piece of plexi over it
