T5 and box

Hey, I have a soundstream t5 tarantula and i dont have it in a box yet, but i have a box laying around that is 2.28^3, w/ .39^3 of port volume, tuning? I just got an email from SS saying they recomend a box of 1.75^3 and a 3x8.75 round port tube...do u think the big box will be ok? or should i get the smaller one? i'm going for mostly spl here..thanks
