So heres the problem, my current alternator in my 97 neon is going to hell, and needs to be replaced, all at the same time im doing a system upgrade..The current alternator pushes out 90 amps, and im not sure if its cause its a bad alternator my lights dim or cuz its not recharging my battery enough, or if 90 amps isnt good enough to power 400rms.
So heres the deal, upgrading to 2 Alpine Type R's, With a Kinetic HC800 Power Cell Battery as a 2nd battery, and a kicker zx1500 amp. Im wondering if i buy a OEM 90 amp alternator if it will be able to power both my Stock/Start Up Battery, and the power cell, or if i should think smart and pay about $100 more for a 140 amp alternator. The 2 Type R's push out about 1000rms, and ill be hooking up 2 6x9, and 2 6 1/2 type r door speakers that im not sure how much power those are together, but will be running off a seperate 1000watt amp.
Sum it all down, buy a new 90 amp oem alternator, or pay extra for a 140 amp one?
