system question

It has been about a year since I have listened to the W6 and W3's, but for that price I would stick with the W3 on a 500/1. But as I suggested above, I would go listen to the two of them side by side.

I know you are comparing those two subs and may not want other suggestions...but I figured I would throw it out there. My XXX/MD2 combo cost me $700 at my door. The amp was new and the sub was fresh off a recone. I would take that setup over 2 w6's off a 1000/1 any day. You might want to keep looking around, but hey that's just me.

Edit: Stoopid me, I was going to add this. From what I remember the W6's were mainly a sq subwoofer. If all you want is loud bass I would definitely go another direction.

i like jl audio not just for the name.i think its good and they hold up for a while.right now im runnin with 2 12 audiobahn 500 rms and e 1400d amp and it doesnt sound to bad.i thought i was gettin a good price on the stuff.but im also tryin to hook up my girls car and i goin with a 12w3 already in her car with my amp.so i really dont want the same subs as her.i want somethin that people are goin to be like wow.they already do that but i want them to be more heads turn around.

JL is a good brand yes and it will hold up for you. But, you can have better for the price. I really would get the IA 20.1 or US Amps MD2 in the classifieds. Set your gains low if you don't have the electrical system to support it. Both amps will treat you quite well. Also, I would look for a SI Mag, Fi Q, '05 RE XXX, instead of the W6's. Believe me, dropping a 25-30 Hz bass line on a XXX will not only put a huge smile on your face it will also rattle your nutz off.

People who don't know much about car audio are really impressed by w7's. They are recognizable enough that most people have heard them mentioned on Cribs.

I don't think it was designed for such. Like I said, it has been a while since I have listened to the W6, but from what I remember it sounded good but wasn't super loud.

True, if you are going just for the wow factor, then yes, everybody has heard of JL and their immediate reaction upon seeing your W6's is that, wow those sound good. They have seen them in shops, the random salesman tells them JL is top notch and they don't doubt it for the moment. Yes its good stuff, but the price kills me...

oh.well i saved up alittle money and sold some stuff.i would buy somethin else beside jl audio but i havent hurd anythin cuz nobody has that stuff around here.

That sucks man. Yeah, sometimes its hard to audition the stuff people talk about on forums. If you want the JL's then go for them, they will sound good. If you aren't sure about what you want, do lots of reading in the sub section and give the classifies a little time to throw up what you want. Also, I have to say this because people get confused. When you add a second sub you gain 3db. That equates to a double in intensity, but is hardly audible. So, don't be afraid of running a single sub in a good ported box.

It's pretty to look at but I haven't installed it yet. I'll post details when I do.
