System Modeling Software

All,

I am not sure if this is the exact place where this post belongs, but it seems to be the most appropriate place to me.

I am looking for software that I can use to plan out my new system. I want to try to lay it all out on my computer so that I make sure that I have all of the components /wiring I need. Has anyone heard of anything that does this. I was thinking there might be an MS Visio stencil for this, but googled and didn't find anything along these lines.

Due to limited (weekend) installation time, I want to "measure twice and cut once" from the time that I start the install.

You may be trying to make this more complicated than it needs to be. Post up what you're installing and we'll give you some input to make sure you've considered everything.

That's wht I planned on doing once I got my thoughts together I figured the more detailed I could be, the easier it would be for me to make sure I had everything and the better feedback I would get on things I might want to change.

I agree that I may be overcooking this a bit, but I would rather have too much detail than not enough and be dead in the water on Saturday at 6PM because I forgot a part that I can only get from Mon - Fri or until 5 at the local shops on Sat.

Here's the deal as I see it. To be able to predict with any precision how much of a certain length of wire you'll need just has too many variables. There's contours and all kinds of obstacles in cars that you have to account for depending on the car.

You also haven't explained what your set-up will consist of. That is the info we need to be able to give you a bill of materials of what you'll need.

I'll buy plenty of wire. That's not what I am concerned about. It's forgeting a critical component I am worrying about.
