I'm decently new to car audio and a friend of mine had his audio installed at Tweeter in Boca Raton, FL - it sounds amazing to he honest. I've never installed any type of car audio. However I do have a home audio system I put together.

I never had any audio in my vehicle and I always wanted to I just had to help out in family matters since I lost my father recently (R.I.P). //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

But I went to Tweeter with my buddy and talked with a sales associate about an install in my '03 Maxima.

Ok here where it gets nuts. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif I was told about $5-$600 for labor and close to over $5,000 for the equipment! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

I gave him a strange look, and said ehhh, I'll think it over and I'm just in a bind, I want very loud deep bass while sounding really good with a nice set of comps, eletrical, hu etc.

I've been searching this site for hours before posting this and found a ton of info, I'm so glad I didn't set an appointment at Tweeter I would have spent so much money!

But I need to put together a system quick. I don't know what to choose. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Any help with choices?

I live in Miami... if you're willing to treck down here, I can help you out for sure.

PM if you're interested.

EDIT:: sorry if I was being pretentious and assuming you wanted an install. If you want help picking out some equipment, we can help. Post some price ranges, the maximum space you're willing to give up, and whether or not it bothers you having brand new stuff or second hand stuff (you can get really good second hand stuff for pretty cheap. Especially on this and other forums)

Let us know what your budget is and what kinda sound you want and we'll hook you up with a good system. Installing yourself isn't hard- just intimidating at first.

P.S. Sorry about your father; I know how it feels.

where in florida are you? oh nevermind lol boca raton
let the boyz at tweeter hook you up

like dj khaled sayz

tweeter!! "they tha best!"
Shit.... not at those insane retail prices. I'm on a few "unknown" to the public websites looking around now. Fi, SoundSolutions Audio, RD Audio, Audiopulse, Sundown, etc.

Since I sold my old explorer I'm wanting to spend around $3,000 I want to be happy and not want to upgrade for a while but I do know the feeling will come sooner or later. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

I would appreciate if you could toss something together. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

3 grand, eh? That's a lot. I'm not that familiar with the newer Maximas, are they the same size as older ones? And do you have any wood working tools? (Circle saw, table saw, etc.)

And you willing to give up your whole trunk?

Well for 3 grand you can get a pretty nice little setup. Got a favorite brand?

Fi makes great subs overall. Do some research and let us know what you like!

I'll risk using up the whole trunk. I barely use it I just toss things in the back seat and my windows are really dark, so I never really had a problem. I think the new ones have a bit more room in them and no I do not have any of those tools. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif I think I can rent them though.

I'm liking the Fi BTL and the Sundown nightshades I'm just wondering if these are all out SPL or can they sound good, loud and low daily?

EDIT:

Hmm... not really sure on the SPL and SQL ... I would have to say SPL. Since I sat in a lot of 155+ vehicles and enjoyed my vision blurring. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

I think the BTL can run daily, I'm not really sure. But, of course, it depends on the box and the amp. You can get one fully loaded BLT for Daily use for $500 or so bucks. I believe that should be able to take more than 2,500W RMS all day.

But, it seems a favorite for HU is the Apline 9887, it sells new for $330 on onlinecarstereo.com

Depending on how many subs you get, the Sundown SAZ-3000D is a popular bohemoth, but there are other amp/sub combos out there. I believe the SAZ-3000D is $1,200 or so from SD themselves. AQ also has good amps, I believe. and IA. But the choice of amp is purely dependent on how many subs you want, and what kind.

As for comps, people are very iffy about them. I personally LOVE my Hertz ESK165's, and when I upgrade, I'm staying with Hertz. So, I suppose I'm a Hertz Fanboi, but the HSK165's are normally $300, but I believe they have a higher tier of speakers, which is a 3-way system rather than a 2-way [Has mid-range, mid-bass, tweeters and crossovers.] I'm not sure about the price on those.

And, for wire, some people like Kicker, I like Knukonceptz (http://www.knukonceptz.com). They have really good wire for pretty cheap. They also have fuse holders, distrobution blocks, ring terminals, and all the others.

Well you could get pretty loud from a trunk, its just that to run more than 1500 watts you need High output alt ($250 -4000) and or a couple of deep cycles - at those SPL levels you will also want a coupel rolls of RAAMAT to keep the rattles down and the SPL up within the vehicle. Batteries to check out

SP70

HC2400

Optima blues and yellows.

Check out some of these subs and amps

Audioque

AQ2200 watt amp is 389 1/0 guage wiring kit is gonn be around $100 Knu concepts or kicker hyperflex are prefered aroudn here.

AQHDC 10-18"

Kicker L7 and Alpine type R get crazy loud with only around 1k per woofer the AQ woofers can take 2K -2.5K daily.

Mach 5 SPL is a 12" rated at 2.5k and with modest box requirements lots of potential there. Mach 5 IXL are also nice woofers.

MTX

TA91002 around $500 does 1500-2k depending on birthsheet and voltage

Kicker 2500.1 - can be found around the classifieds for around $500

birthsheets from 2.5-2.9K

Stereo Integrity MAG subwoofers 12" takes 1 cubic foot 4 of these would be incredibly loud while sounding good. 2K to get them going 3K would be incredibly loud, in theory they could handle a AQ2200 per pair.

Highs components and amps - you will want to sound deaden frotn doors as well

Kicker

Hertz

Polk

MBquart

Phoenix Gold.

Thanks a lot for helping me out! I'm a fan of single sub setups with a bunch of power, so it will probably be a Fi BTL or a Nightshade on either the 3000D or the new IA 20.1 since I demo'd Tommy's bassrace truck and he showed me around the amps and told me how bullet proof they are.

Thanks to everyone.
