system in my ext. cab silverado

I am going to be getting a 1999-2000 gmx seirra ext cab. I thinking of putting an 18'' XXX in the back, what would eb the best way to set it up ? in was thinking sub up and port up ?

Personally i wouldnt spend the money on subs and amps if you are going to put them under the seat. Its hard to make them loud let alone sound decent
yes, it may be "hard", but not impossible //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

to do those two 12"s properly, the box would have to be sticking out into the footwell of the rear passengers. it simply isnt that great of a setup. taking out the rear seat is gay. you might as well do a cut through if you are going to do that.
why would you do a cut through? have fun trying to sell it.....

just take out the backseat and have someone build you a decent box if you cant.

thanks for the help everyone. loosing the backseat is not an option, but i admire your effort LOL.
I was thinking about rasing the seat a couple inches and having a custom box done. my only problem there is that i already cut the tabs down that hold the back of the seat to the back wall of the truck, so if i raise the seat any, it MIGHT not catch on the brackets, and my seat will come flying forward folding itself down everytime i hit the brakes. I have to look at it some more though, i'm not sure how much play i have there.

I'll be putting the 1000/1 in on thursday, so i'll update you guys on what it sounds like. this is how i planned on wiring it:
my seat is 1/2" higher that standard. it cathes just fine on the rear wall. a couple of inches and you will run out of bolt for the bottom seat brackets.

holty.........im guessing the subs dual coil. since each speaker has 2 coil connect the(+) of one coil to the next and the (-)of 1 coil to the other coil repeat this to the other speaker. and it should give you some bump

second dumb post of the day for this guy, but i agree with everyone your not gonna get much outof it unless you take the back seats out, oneof my friends has a sealed box for 2 12s for like an ext 00 silverado and theres not enough airspace to really do anything.

sub facing front, port facing up

sometimes people do things for themselves, not retail value. and that way you have a back seat for people/stuff, and you still have some bed to work with.

Plus, its not worth it cutting up a $30K truck just for some bass. All though, i do like the way you think! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I've already spent about $20K on this truck in aftermarket parts, not including the purchase price of $27K.

Right now i'm just looking for simpler/cheaper solutions on getting the most outta my system.

I know adding a bigger amp isn't going to cure my problem, i'm just doing it now in anticipation of changing subs and getting the custom box done i guess. I really didn't want to go that far, but after reading this thread, it seems everyone agrees that i won't get much further with the current box i have now.

i too have debated a cut though. down the road if i still have it, it will be done, when finances are better. these trucks are all about the box. the box will make or break your install in these trucks. i have a friend with four 12"s in his ext cab silverado, and he cant even touch my two 10"s. his doesnt have half the low bass, SQ, or SPL.

you can get spacers for the seats and for the bolts ACE, lowes or homedepot have grade A bolts just get them long enough to fit through the spacer. (spacers might need to be made of metal plates of 1/4 inch thick.)

it should give about 1 to 2 more inches of space to built a box with the correct measurements.

unless you want to drill the floor of your truck, a longer bolt isnt an option. mdf spacers work just fine.
