a buddy has been asking me about this so hopoe you can help me out!

he wants to run a system with these things on ( see below ) no amps, no subs. i dont what to tell this guy - does not have enough money but willing to spend on MB Quarts because he wants to have the same setup as mine. anyway help me out? what can i tell him! is it possible to run a system like that?

head: DEH-P740MP Pioneer Premier

Speakers:

Rear - MB Quart DSD 216

imp. 4 Ohms ( nominal )

Power range: 50 watts RMS - 120 watts

front - Rockford Fosgate FNP 1414

imp. 4 Ohms

Power range: 8-50 watts RMS

this is the system he wants. can you give info?

He plans to upgrade when the money is available so this is just a primary setup!

why not?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

wont it damage the speakers? i never heard of anyone running expensive speakers without amps? expensive speakers without amps is useless but i cant tell this guy that! so is that ok considering the amperage and the impedance not to mention the RMS factors?

You;re saying that your friend is gonna run the speakers off the hu, is that correct? I guess it might not sound superb, but there will at least be squeaking...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Less power = damage speakers? Oh no, brace yourself... I have a feeling that this forum might get longer than normal...again...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

You might want to consider the ohm more than you do the RMS...

that im very afraid of - speaker damage is eminent! but i guess its his money! if ever what AMP i best for a system like that? i told him of us acoustics coz thats what i have and they function well with a very reasonable price. what do you think?

If a person's on a budget, why not just get the cheapest amp available with the lowest THD possible? Then upgrade the amp later when your friend grows up?

Pyramids, or whatever you can grab, just make sure you don't overload it...

if it were me, i'd move the mb's up front and put the fosgates in the back. not only do the mb's take more power and should therefore be up front, but imo, they sound better as well, you want the sound coming from the front, not the back... just my opinion tho, but everything else looks great, and like everyone else said, they should be amped up
