I have a 1999 Civic Ex Sedan and recently the factory radio went out, so I decided I am going to get an aftermarket system. I wanted one that was decent but not way to expensive. Anyways I have researched some and come up with the following list. I know all these components will work well together but I just wanna see what peoples opions are the matter. Here is the setup I came up with:

Pioneer DEH-P6900UB Head Unit

Alpine SPR-17C Front

Alpine SPR-69C Rear

driven by Alpine MRP-F450

Alpine Type-R SWR-1242D Subwoofer Speaker driven by

Alpine MRP-M450

Anyways, let me know what you guys think! Thanks! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

It's ok...for the money you could have something WAY better. I learned that the hard way...I used to have an all Alpine Type-R system...it left me wanting. What is your budget? Who is installing (you, a buddy or a shop)? Do you want it to sound good (SQ) or do you just want a loud system that everyone can hear 3 blocks away and rattle the hell out of your trunk? What kind of music do you listen to? And, while I do love Crutchfield's customer service, you are paying way too much for that equipment. Get it somewhere else like woofersetc.com, for a lot cheaper. Answer those questions above to get a better response on what to buy...

Yeah I wasn't planning on buying from crutchfield, I was planning on buying from onlinecarstereo.com. From crutchfield all that stuff costs like $1300.00 but from onlinecarstereo its only like $800.00. My budget is at or right below $1,000. I don't listen to much rap, I listen to mostly rock and punk type stuff like yellowcard, amber pacific, relient k... I want it to me loud but still sound pretty good, I'm not a perfectionist when its comes to sound quality, pretty much anything that is louder and sounds better than my factory setup would be ok, but I want a tiny bit more then that. I went to best buy and listened to the speakers I chose and I thought they sounded really good. Also, I'm planning on doing the install myself, probably with the help of some friends too, I've never done stereo installation, but I've done plenty of wiring in my car before and I'm an EE student.

i have the same car and good luck getting 6.5" speakers in the front to fit in properly with the grill to fit on right. the speaker is mounted on the door panel itself and not the door which i think is a really crappy thing. i literally jigsaw'd the part behind the grill and mounted MDF rings to my door to make 6.5's fit right.

Why is the depth for the speaker to great? (like it sticks out too much?)What would you suggest doing?
well, when you try to install it you will see what im talkin about. they had some kind of OEM pod i there for the speaker. i think the OEM speaker is 6" so when i tried to put 6.5" in there i had to literally shove it in there and the speaker grill wouldnt close.

What i did was jigsaw taht whole spot off and mount an MDF ring on my door.

too bad that little hole in the door limits what kind of mids you can get too.. i bought aa poly mids and the terminals wouldnt clear.

Did you just drill it into the door I guess? I know what your talking about that factory big bowl shaped thing that the speaker sits in. What do you think of the speakers overall. Also I think im gonna go with the Alpine MRP-F550 for the speaker amp cause its 20 watts more to each channel and only like $30.00 more on onlinecarstereo.com

Do you think my whole setup will work ok?

in my 98 civic ex I have 2 alpine amps in mine one 4 channel for my highs and a mrd 1005 for my w7/ 2 10" type r's.( the w7 sounds the best tho) I have rainbow front stage and pioneer revs 6x9s to take up the empty space in the back. My system is very nice and loud for what it is and i didnt pay to much... If i was you I would look into a set of componets for your front stage stay away from the type r speakers/ components waste of money! i looked into them at first thats why i say that. And dont buy of crutchfeild there are cheaper places!
