System Eval. and Question

You people are sad.

How often do you guys tell people install is the key to system performance? Yet when this guy comes here asking for advice, most people just dump on his equipment. Hypocrits.

1greek4u gave good, legitimate advice. Nice job. Listen to him.

I know I don't have the best of the best equipment wise. I don't want an all-out sound off car but I want a decent set-up. I'd love to buy top end equipment but I just buy what I can afford and what I thought at the time was indeed quality. I appreciate 1greek4u's advice and anyone else who tried to help me. If anyone has any other ideas that I could benefit from, please let me know. thanks

Simplify your system. Consider this, the more sound sources you have (speakers), the more chances for interferance you have, the less chance you have of them imaging together properly, the more difficult setting up time delay is (which I doubt you are even using). Bottom line, the fewer speakers you can use to acheive the performance you need, the better off you are. You do not need nor want multiple tweetrrs in the front stage, for example. People will also tell you to ditch rear speakers, this is debateable. But if you are after 'SQ', Id at least recommend bandpassing the rear speakers as 'rear fill' (use the search, plenty of info on that topic).

And yes, a nice EQ can help any system. But if I were you, before looking to acheive that level of sophistication in your system, Id get the basics correct. 1greek4u hit alot of those basics already. Once you get your base system solid, then look into a 1/3 octave EQ to really tweak it into sonic nirvana. Get what Im saying? Priorities... basics first.

Sorry man, I guess I was too harsh. If I had had any money when I first wanted better sound in my car I would have bought Audiobahn, Pyle, or whatever too. I just got lucky and didn't have any money saved up until I researched a lot.

1greek4u had great advice, tuning and install. Do you have a high pass crossover on your front speakers? If not, I would suggest doing something about that. Highpassing will allow them to go louder without distorting and it will help you blend them in with your subs too.

Where are your tweeters mounted?
