sx15 tuning???

i'm tuned at 35 htz right now and it sounds good but i want more of thump feel to it... i heard if i frop the tuning a bit it would "feel" harder and wouldn't be as loud... which is what i want... is this correct? what tuning do you suggest? Also, my box is covered... if i were to tune it lower, would it be possible to extend the port peice without making a new box? thanks...
