sx vs hdc3... which his lower/has better sound quality

Just to throw this out there, I have had a 15" Fi Q with bp option in my car for a good month, on about 1300~ watts off my AQ2200, and I wasn't impressed. I took it out because i'd rather be bassless than have that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
My HDC3 had more range, sounded just about the same (if not better) and dropped lower off the same power.
SEE... shit like this confuses me lol and im easily confused i feel like the kid in the back of the short bus looking out the window at the cars behind the bus right now

Well, agree to disagree I suppose. My 15" Mag got much lower and louder sub 32 than my friends HDC off the same power. I attribute this to the tuning, without a doubt, but still. My Mag also blended with my music much much better and was, hands down, a better sounding sub SQ wise.

get an RE MT if you want SQ. or the BTL (some like to call them BLT) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

i am, im buying skmfkr's copper 12 off him either tonight or tomorrow
Good choice.

I actually got a buddy that likes his RE MT better then the Fi Q that he owned...
"Fuller sounding" music. That is what most people will say. That is basically what it comes down to. I can't blame them, I like it to. I understand though that it isn't SQ setups and that is my only point.

yeah.. i was hoping this whole thread was out of sarcasm.
well looking at your sig i can tell your one those hardcore sq guys so i wouldn't expect you to understand my ears probably aren't at as much of a critic as yours are, i would like it to sound good, it doesn't have to sound INCREDIBLE, btw nice equipment

not hardcore at all.. just a broke ***... now. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

i have sigs off... after looking at it, i need to update it.

What did I miss? Is it just me or when the HDC came out, everyone was running around talking about how it was a strict SPL sub, and no longer the more SQLish sub the HD3 was?

Now it seems every other thread involving HDC's people are talking about how good they sound and comparing them to supposedly more SQ oriented subs. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

The thing is , SQ is very subjective. HDC are not sq subs. This needs to be said more often. Although advocates such as mlstrass, and jbizzle are out there that say their setups are very SQ oriented, this simply isn't the case. Don't get me wrong mlstrass/jbizzle, I am sure I would think that your setups sound amazing. I have the same tastes, and would like a more bass filled setup. In fact I plan on getting ID CTX165 and 2x 15 HDC's. This is not the definition of SQ though, and as mlstrass will say. He would rather have the music sound good to him, and not reproduce accurately.
With that said, understand that "getting low" is also very subjective. I owned a v3 Mag, and I'll tell you, that got LOW. Ported at 32, it hit down to 27 loud. The HDC will not hit 27 loud when tuned to 38 in comparison with the rest of it's frequency band. This is what is always overlooked. Yes the HDC's are loud at 29,30,31 etc. But in comparison to the rest of the band >38, they are not loud. This is because of tuning, obviously. Still, something to think about it.
I've never said I don't like music reproduced accurately. The actual statement is that I don't understand SQ purists who consider "playing it as the artist intended" to be the holy grail of SQ.

So what exactly is the definition of SQ as I've asked several times on here and never get an answer other then "it's subjective"?

Why do you assume that my set up sounds "bass filled", especially considering you've never heard it? I've spent a lot of time installing/tuning my front stage and getting the subs to blend well. Yes I have the potential to have a LOT of bass when I want it, but that's not how I normally listen.

I will say it time and again that the HDC's in the right enclosure mated to the right front stage can sound VERY good. Probably not enough for the purists, but for 99% of the people out there they will very accurately reproduce the lower octaves.

As for playing loud down low you don't have to tune them to 38 if your main choice of music has a lot of material in the 20's. I hit 147@31Hz tuned to 38Hz, so I'm betting mine are still pretty loud at 27Hz, at least louder then most SQ types would need.
